WMIF MAIN SITEReza Dana holds the Claes Dohlman Chair in Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School. He is Director of the Cornea Service and Senior Scientist at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear, Director of the Harvard-Vision Clinical Scientist Development Program, and member of the Harvard Medical School Committee on Immunology (Graduate Program). A graduate of Johns Hopkins University and Harvard, he studies the molecular and cellular mechanisms of immunity and inflammation in the eye. His research has led to numerous seminal findings in the fields of angiogenesis, dry eye disease, regenerative medicine, endothelial dysfunction, stem cells, and transplant rejection, and has led to more than 500 publications (citation h-index = 112; >57,000 citations). Professor Dana has been the recipient of many international honors and named lectureships for his research, including the Cogan Award of ARVO, Endre Balazs Award of ISER, Thygeson Award, Stein Innovation Award of Research to Prevent Blindness, and the Friedenwald Award of ARVO among more than 50 additional national and international awards. He is a Gold Fellow of ARVO and has been recipient of the Ellis Island Medal for his contributions to the science of the United States and has won the Clifford Barger Prize for Mentoring of Harvard Medical School and the Harvard Ophthalmology Lifetime Achievement Award in Mentoring. He is Editor-in-Chief of Cornea. Apart from more than 100 clinical trainees, Professor Dana has trained more than 140 fellows and students from 36 countries in the field of immunology and transplantation in his laboratory to date.
