Moving innovation into clinical practice depends on everything from robust research practices to prudent piloting to smart investing and partnering. The Forum program provides insight into these developments.
Mass General Brigham is home to one of the largest hospital system-based research enterprises in the U.S., with an annual research budget of $2.4 billion. There are over 3,700 ongoing clinical trials to accelerate bringing new treatments and therapies to our patients and the world.
The Mass General Brigham system includes five nationally ranked hospitals in U.S. News and World Report, a global authority in hospital rankings and consumer information. The 2023-2024 Best Hospital rankings include two Mass General Brigham Honor Roll-awarded academic medical centers and three of the nation’s leading specialty hospitals, along with top national honors for women’s health and psychiatry.
The five nationally ranked hospitals, Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), McLean, Mass Eye and Ear, and Spaulding Rehabilitation each also earned high marks in multiple clinical specialties.
MGH and BWH are on the U.S. News “Best Hospitals” honor roll, and, for the second year, BWH earned the top honor in Obstetrics & Gynecology (OBGYN), ranking #1 in the nation. McLean Hospital is ranked as #1 in the nation for psychiatry. Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital earned the #2 spot for rehabilitation and Mass Eye and Ear ranked #4 for ophthalmology and #7 for otolaryngology (ear, nose, and throat). In total, 11 unique specialties at MGH and BWH were recognized in the top 10 nationally.
